Description
The H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowships recognize and support University of Wisconsin–Madison faculty up to six years past their first promotion to a tenured position. The program bridges the gap between the Research Committee’s initial research support for new faculty and the Mid-Career Award for Faculty Research. Selection emphasizes the quality, significance, and productivity of a nominee’s research, while also valuing teaching and service.
The fellowships are funded by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) in recognition of the leadership of its late Trustee President, H. I. Romnes. Income from successful licenses of technology developed through UW–Madison research is returned to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research to support campus research activities, including these awards.
