Description
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture administers this reimbursement program for poultry farms, integrators, and allied industries affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The biosecurity application supports new or improved practices tailored to an operation’s needs, with the goal of addressing weaknesses and reducing future HPAI cases. Examples include entry controls, disinfection equipment, wild-bird exclusion repairs, and biosecurity education.
The separate round-six recovery application addresses demonstrable financial losses caused by inclusion in an HPAI control or quarantine zone. Its eligible costs differ from those of the biosecurity application: round six can reimburse specified income losses and operating costs, while biosecurity funding is directed to enhancements rather than general operating expenses.
