Description
The American Society of Hematology (ASH) runs the HIP Mentor Matching Program through its Hematology Inclusion Pathway. Applicants to the HIP Medical Student Award and HIP Resident Award who have not identified a research mentor can be matched with experienced hematology investigators and preestablished research projects. The program aims to reduce barriers to research participation and help aspiring physician-scientists develop careers in hematology.
Successfully matched awardees receive financial support for hematology-focused research and a separate career-development mentor for guidance during medical training and residency. Supported medical student research includes basic, translational, patient-oriented clinical, and outcomes-based research. Projects may address adult hematology, pediatric hematology/oncology, hematopathology, or blood banking and transfusion medicine through laboratory research or clinical investigation.
