Description
The Missouri Housing Development Commission’s Home Repair Opportunity (HeRO) Program uses part of Missouri’s federal HOME Investment Partnerships allocation to support non-cosmetic repairs for income-qualified single-family homeowners. Participating agencies administer rehabilitation projects addressing health, safety, accessibility, and weatherization needs and bringing homes into compliance with local and state housing codes.
Agencies work with homeowners, contractors, appraisers, and MHDC to establish eligibility, assess properties, develop repair proposals, and complete approved work. MHDC approves individual project proposals before rehabilitation begins and reimburses agencies after completed projects’ expenses have been paid. Households seeking assistance apply through participating agencies rather than directly to MHDC.
