Description
The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) is administered federally by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Its risk-based grants support efforts to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from terrorism and other threats. Supported activities include planning, organization, equipment purchases, training, exercises, and management and administration across all core capabilities and mission areas.
In Iowa, Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) serves as the State Administrative Agency for the State Homeland Security Program (SHSP), making pass-through funding available to eligible entities through sub-grants. State agencies may also administer projects benefiting local entities. Alongside annual opportunities, funds from previous grant years may become available for reallocation.
