Description
The Homeland Security Grant Program supports local and regional preparedness efforts across Tennessee. Administered by the Tennessee Emergency Management Authority (TEMA), the program helps communities prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other hazards. Funded activities must align with state and federal homeland security priorities and program guidance.
Supported work includes planning projects, equipment purchases, training, exercises, and other local or regional preparedness initiatives. Physical security projects may qualify when connected to approved critical infrastructure or other eligible preparedness priorities. Radio equipment must meet interoperability, mutual aid, and technical requirements. At the federal level, the program supports the National Preparedness System, with priorities including law enforcement terrorism prevention capabilities and enhancement of state and major urban area fusion centers.
