Description
The Homeland Security Planning Regions Grant Program is administered by the Massachusetts Office of Grants and Research (OGR) using federal funding awarded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). It supports the state’s five Homeland Security Regional Advisory Councils in maintaining and enhancing preparedness and security. The program addresses terrorism, other catastrophic events, and the threats and hazards posing the greatest risk to Massachusetts and the United States.
National funding priorities include community preparedness and resiliency, cybersecurity, election security, and information and intelligence sharing with federal agencies. Other priorities are protecting soft targets or crowded locations and combating violent domestic extremism. Regional councils propose projects that improve communities’ ability to prevent, respond to, or recover from a catastrophe.
