Large grants begin with an Expression of Interest and support work aligned with the Foundation’s broader themes of Regional Research, Capacity Building, and Developing the Discipline.
The programme values high-quality regional research and projects that strengthen the regional research environment. Its priorities also include skills development in conservation, dive training, marine geophysics, and databases; regional partnerships; interconnected activities delivering multiple benefits; and work that increases the visibility and value of marine cultural heritage. Funding is competitive, with a limited number of applications supported in each cycle and awards reserved for proposals trustees judge to be of the highest standard.
