The HREC Research Grants Competition is designed to expand scholarly knowledge and public understanding of the Holodomor through support for academic research, publication of results, preservation of relevant materials, and participation in academic events. The program encourages projects that address diverse aspects of the Holodomor, including the policies of foreign governments during collectivization, the impact at national and local levels, and effects on specific groups such as women, children, minorities, and people with disabilities.
Successful applicants will be paired with research advisors and invited to submit their work for publication, increasing the reach and impact of their research. The competition is organized by the Holodomor Research and Education Consortium and supported by the Canadian Institute of Ukrainian Studies, with additional backing from Global Affairs Canada and other partners.
