The Human Biology Association (HBA) offers Student Travel Awards each year to help student members travel to its annual meeting. These awards support meeting attendance rather than a separate research project, including opportunities for students to share human biology research through paper or poster presentations. Students attending without an accepted abstract may also apply.
The program connects travel support with students’ current and potential contributions to human biology. Applicants write an essay discussing the issues that should drive research over the next five years and obtain an advisor’s assessment of their contributions to the field. Selection considers the quality of both materials, with priority for presenters and students who have not previously received a Student Member Travel Award.
