Description
The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) combines its Human Services and Education focus areas in an annual competitive grant cycle. Human Services funding supports continuing, replicating, or expanding proven programs that directly serve economically disadvantaged people. It also supports equipment, supplies, and materials providing an immediate, substantial benefit to organizations delivering those services.
Education funding supports early childhood development, K–12, and adult education. Priorities include accessible, affordable infant/toddler care, nontraditional-hour childcare, and out-of-school learning; evidence-based early literacy, math, STEM, absenteeism reduction, and adult credentialing; and wraparound academic, social-emotional, developmental, and logistical supports. The program also supports education workforce recruitment, retention, and professional development, plus employer-aligned training through sector-based pathways to industry-recognized, stackable credentials.
