Description
The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) administers Federal Transit Administration Section 5310 funding to improve mobility for seniors aged 65 and older and individuals with disabilities. The program funds accessible replacement and expansion vehicles, new transportation services, mobility management that connects people with services across providers, and selected other capital projects such as transportation technology and accessibility improvements.
Projects must address transportation needs identified in DRPT’s Coordinated Human Services Mobility (CHSM) Plan and align with priorities for their region. DRPT gives priority to continuing existing Section 5310 programs, increasing publicly available services, and then providing expansion vehicles for existing client-based programs.
