Description
This program provides cooperative agreements to local education agencies (LEAs), including schools operated by the Bureau of Indian Education or tribes, for the purpose of establishing, expanding, or supporting programs that educate school staff and students on recognizing, preventing, and responding to human trafficking. Grantees, in partnership with a nonprofit or nongovernmental organization (NGO), will implement prevention education covering labor and sex trafficking, recognizing indicators of trafficking, referral and reporting procedures, and strategies for ensuring the safety of reporters. Education for caregivers is optional. Programs must be developed in consultation with local law enforcement to ensure safety protocols.
