The aim is to enable recipients to focus intensively on research and writing in the humanities and social sciences by providing relief from teaching and administrative duties as well as funding for research staff, equipment, travel, subsistence, and dissemination. The scheme is intended for both the development of new research projects and the advancement of well-defined, ongoing research programs.
