The MIT Human Insight Collaborative (MITHIC) is a major internal initiative designed to support and advance research, teaching, and creative work at the intersection of the humanities, arts, social sciences, and other fields at MIT. Through its three core funding pillars—the Humanities Cultivation Fund, SHASS Education Impact Fund, and SHASS+ Connectivity Fund—MITHIC encourages projects that deepen understanding of human experience, foster innovative interdisciplinary collaborations, and address pressing societal challenges. MITHIC prioritizes proposals that leverage MIT’s unique environment and potential for cross-disciplinary impact, with funding available for both ready-to-launch projects and planning grants to develop future collaborations.
