Description
Dumbarton Oaks, a Harvard University research institute, offers the Humanities Fellowships as an academic year of professional development for people exploring careers in the humanities. Fellows live on its campus in Washington, DC, and work with staff mentors at both Dumbarton Oaks and a partner cultural institution. The program aims to help them build skills, professional networks, and a portfolio of projects for careers inside or outside academia.
Fellows spend two days each week at each institution; the fifth day is reserved for planned and self-directed professional development. Projects have included exhibition preparation, research and publication, collections work, communications, education, and public outreach. Partner placements take account of fellows’ interests and experience and the projects available at host institutions.
