Description
Brown University’s Division of Research administers Humanities Research Funds to support faculty scholarship in the arts, humanities, and social sciences. The program provides internal research support for departments and fields where external funding opportunities may be limited, helping sustain scholarly work that may have fewer opportunities for outside support.
Funding is distributed through an annual departmental model: each eligible department receives a fixed allocation to support faculty projects. In November 2024, Provost Francis J. Doyle III announced a major new investment in humanities research at Brown, and the program’s guidelines were updated to reflect the increased support.
