Description
The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards the Humboldt Research Award to internationally renowned researchers from abroad in recognition of their entire academic record. It honours fundamental discoveries, new theories and findings with lasting impact beyond the researcher’s immediate field, while recognising the promise of further outstanding achievements. Researchers of all disciplines and nationalities may be nominated.
Award winners are invited to undertake research projects of their own choosing at research institutions in Germany, working closely with specialist colleagues. Research stays can be divided into several visits. Alongside funding, the Foundation provides individualised assistance, opportunities for language courses and invitations to events. Alumni sponsorship supports subsequent careers and continued collaborations. The award is part of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space’s Global Minds Initiative Germany.
