The Humboldt Research Professorships are among Germany’s most prestigious research awards, designed to attract world-leading researchers from abroad to German universities and research institutions. Funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation within the Global Minds Initiative, these professorships aim to enable recipients to carry out innovative, high-impact research in Germany, establish international working groups, and foster long-term academic collaborations.
Awardees are not required to relinquish their positions abroad and may integrate flexibly into German institutions, including the possibility of split or lab-to-lab professorships. The program encourages the establishment of new research directions in Germany and supports international scientific exchange.
