The Huntington’s Disease Foundation (HDF) runs this two-year accelerator every other year to help senior postdoctoral researchers move into tenure-track principal investigator positions. The program focuses on career development rather than funding scientific research, with the goal of sustaining a pipeline of Huntington’s disease researchers from early-career stages through tenured positions.
Awardees participate in career-update meetings, young investigator science workshops, scientific conferences, a patient-based event, and a two-day in-person incubator workshop. Training addresses research management, job launch, and auxiliary support: scientific speaking and writing, laboratory management, budgeting, recruitment, conflict resolution, and leadership. Career preparation includes chalk talks, job talks, CVs, cover letters, and recruitment timelines, alongside stress and time management, ethics, diversity, and networking.
