Description
The Hurricane Ida Affordable Housing Resiliency Initiative (AHRI) supports disaster mitigation and repair for affordable multi-family and public housing developments in six New York counties impacted by Hurricane Ida: Dutchess, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester. Administered by the Office of Resilient Homes and Communities within New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR), AHRI aims to increase the resilience of affordable housing sites to future storms and hazards. Funding can be used for floodproofing, resilient energy systems, backup power, elevated mechanicals, and other disaster mitigation strategies, as well as repairs from Hurricane Ida and repetitive losses. The program prioritizes projects in Westchester County and those directly affected by Hurricane Ida, especially developments serving vulnerable populations and minimizing resident displacement.
