Description
The Hurricane Response Marine Debris Removal Fund is a partnership between the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and the NOAA Marine Debris Program. It provides competitive grants for projects that assess, remove, and properly dispose of marine debris caused by recent hurricanes and severe storm events. The fund targets debris such as capsized vessels, displaced fishing gear, and damaged infrastructure that threatens coastal communities, navigation, industry, tourism, public health, and protected species or habitats. Projects should deliver both community and ecological benefits, with priority given to those ready for immediate clean-up and those that have completed debris assessments and permitting.
