Description
The I Tatti/Dumbarton Oaks Joint Fellowship is a unique residential program co-hosted by Villa I Tatti (Florence) and Dumbarton Oaks (Washington, DC), supporting early- and mid-career scholars whose research explores exchanges between Italy and the East Christian world (including Byzantium, the Balkans, the Near East, North and East Africa, India, Russia, and related contact zones). The fellowship encourages interdisciplinary approaches—art, architecture, history, archaeology, literature, music, philosophy, religion, or science—focused on the late medieval and early modern Mediterranean. Fellows benefit from the rich scholarly resources and communities of both institutions, spending the fall semester at I Tatti and the spring at Dumbarton Oaks.
