Description
This joint fellowship, offered by Villa I Tatti (The Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies) and Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection, supports early- and mid-career scholars whose research explores cross-cultural exchanges between Italy and the East Christian world (including Byzantium, the Greek world, North and East Africa, the Near East, the Caucasus, the Balkans, India, Russia, and related contact zones) from the late medieval to early modern periods. The fellowship is residential, split between Florence (I Tatti) and Washington, DC (Dumbarton Oaks), and encourages interdisciplinary projects in art, architecture, archaeology, history, literature, material culture, music, philosophy, religion, or science. Preference is given to projects engaging with the cultural heritage of both Italy and the East Christian world.
