The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) runs the Richard Almy Research Grant Program to bring practitioners and scholars together and encourage innovative ideas in property appraisal, assessment administration, and property tax policy. Formerly the Academic Partnership Program, it seeks to facilitate and publish assessment-related research through partnerships between institutions of higher learning and IAAO.
The program prioritizes inventive, quality research aligned with IAAO’s Body of Knowledge, the framework defining the knowledge and skills of the mass appraisal profession. Relevant work includes property valuation, assessment methods and technology, property tax policy and its impacts, and assessment and valuation standards. The Research and Standards Committee also encourages practical deliverables, such as software templates, code repositories, dashboards, and other tools that help property tax assessment practitioners.
