Description
Run by IBM Research, the IBM PhD Fellowship Program recognizes exceptional doctoral students working in focused areas of technology. Since 1951, the program has collaborated with faculty, students, and universities worldwide to support research aligned with IBM’s interests. IBM Research’s focus areas include semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and hybrid cloud. Selection emphasizes research excellence, technical alignment, and progress demonstrated through academic standing, publications, and faculty endorsements.
Each awardee receives an IBM mentor throughout the award period. Internships are strongly encouraged to broaden technical networks and provide experience in industrial research, development, or consulting, but are neither guaranteed nor mandatory. IBM is reviewing and refining the program to better align it with its strategic priorities and future objectives.
