The IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) awards Graduate Studies Fellowships to promote, recognize, and support graduate students working within the Society’s fields of interest. The fellowships support a period of study at a foreign university or research institution, with proposed work grounded in the candidate’s education, research goals, and accomplishments in their current studies.
Up to seven fellowships are awarded annually, with additional funding from the IEEE Foundation’s Future Workforce Fund. The highest-ranked recipient receives the IEEE PELS John G. Kassakian Fellowship, named for the second president of the Power Electronics Council and founding president of PELS. Selection considers the plan for the stay, the candidate’s academic record, and the quality and impact of the application materials.
