Funding Amounts: Up to $25,000 USD (Main Track) | Up to $10,000 USD (Emerging or Practitioner Track)
Summary: Supports seasonal schools worldwide that expand access to advanced research education, foundational learning, and practical robotics training.
Key Information: Organizers may apply to only one track per cycle, and proposals require endorsement from suitable RAS Technical Committees.
The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society’s Technical Education Program (RAS-TEP), also known as “Seasonal Schools,” supports robotics education around the world. Jointly run by the RAS Educational Activities Board and Technical Activities Board, the program sponsors in-person, virtual, and hybrid schools to bring RAS closer to its membership and make educational resources accessible regardless of location.
Three tracks address different needs: advanced, research-oriented education for early-stage graduate students; foundational knowledge and research capacity in emerging robotics communities; and hands-on training for undergraduate chapters and newcomers. Funding is intended to reduce event costs for RAS Student Members, extend schools’ reach and impact, and help secure high-quality instructors.
