Summary: Training for policymakers on Internet operations and standards development to support sound policy and a resilient Internet.
Key Information: Participation is by invitation only and in person, with no virtual or hybrid option.
The Internet Society’s IETF Policymaker Program trains policymakers on how the Internet works and provides visibility into its standards development process. It focuses on the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the premier Internet standards development organization. By understanding the Internet’s architecture, evolution, and underlying standards, participants can develop policies that preserve its technical infrastructure and support an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet.
The four-day program takes place on-site at IETF meetings three times a year. Participants discuss leading-edge technical and policy issues with technical experts, observe working group sessions, and explore how standards are implemented to address Internet challenges. Discussions connect the work of the technical community with the digital policy challenges facing participants’ countries.
