Description
The Institute of Historical Research (IHR) offers doctoral fellowships to postgraduate historians at the writing-up stage, with support from the Isobel Thornley Trust and the Royal Historical Society. The awards support completion of doctoral research and are intended for students who can clearly explain their need for additional time beyond three years of doctoral study, or the equivalent for part-time students and international students on longer programmes.
The programme combines writing-up support with mentorship from the IHR’s Director and staff across the University of London’s School of Advanced Study. Fellows receive access to research resources, seminars and training, alongside guidance on publications, research funding and future careers. The fellowship also provides opportunities to present research and build connections with fellow historians.
