Description
The IHR Trust Bridging Fellowships are part of the 2026–2027 Career Support Scheme, run by the Institute of Historical Research in collaboration with the IHR Trust. Created in response to cuts, closures and redundancies across UK universities, the scheme helps historians complete research projects in which they have already invested substantial time and resources.
The six-month fellowships provide an intellectual home, mentoring, community and resources to support unfinished work with value for historians and the wider public. Fellows can access IHR training, publication opportunities, the national research seminar programme, the IHR Library and digital resources, including the Bibliography of British and Irish History. The scheme also supports planning for future careers in academia or other history-related sectors.
