--- ## Description The IIE Victor J. Goldberg Prize for Peace in the Middle East is awarded annually to recognize and support courageous, innovative partnerships between an Israeli Jew and an Arab Muslim who work together to foster peace, healing, and connection in the Middle East. Established in 2004, the prize celebrates grassroots initiatives that build bridges across religious, cultural, and political divides, and aims to inspire others by highlighting successful joint efforts that advance peaceful coexistence in the region. Past recipients have included leaders in community dialogue, legal advocacy, interfaith collaboration, youth leadership, and social innovation. --- ## Due Dates - April 2027 (Nomination deadline, anticipated/projected) *All dates are projected based on the annual cycle; check the program page for updates.* --- ## Funding Amount - Total prize: US$20,000 (shared equally by the two recipients) - Awarded annually - No indirect costs or overhead; prize is direct recognition for the joint work --- ## Eligibility - The prize is awarded to two individuals: - One Israeli Jew - One Arab Muslim (not required to be an Israeli citizen) - Both individuals must: - Work and reside in the Middle East region - Be engaged in joint efforts advancing peace in the region - The prize recognizes those whose work is judged most successful in bringing people together and meeting the prize's goals - Both established and grassroots initiatives are eligible - Nominations are encouraged from any pair whose activities meet the criteria --- ## Application Process - Nominations are typically submitted by completing a nomination form (available on the program website) and sending it to the program's contact email - The winners are selected by an international selection committee based on: - Courage and commitment to overcoming religious, cultural, ethnic, and political divisions - Innovation and success in advancing peace - Impact and inspiration for others at the grassroots level - Award ceremonies are generally held in June, with public announcement of winners --- ## Additional Information - The prize is intended to uplift and support partnerships promoting peace, especially during times of heightened conflict in the region - Previous winners have included leaders in interfaith dialogue, legal activism, education, and community development - The award is a form of recognition and does not fund specific projects --- ## External Links - [Program Page: IIE Victor J.
