    Description

The Energy Benchmarking and Efficiency at Community Colleges (EBECC) Program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. It combines technical assistance for energy consumption benchmarking and efficiency planning with funding to implement energy efficiency projects. The program encourages participating institutions to analyze past, present, and future energy consumption behaviors and best management practices, while creating opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and workforce development.

Awarded projects track electricity and natural gas consumption at college, campus, and building levels. They also install submeters in priority buildings without building-level metering and develop energy visions, goals, and strategies into comprehensive campus energy reduction plans. Funding comes from the U.S. Department of Energy’s State Energy Program through supplemental appropriations authorized under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
