Description
The Illinois State Library administers this grant to support libraries at the Illinois Veterans’ Homes in Anna, Chicago, LaSalle, Manteno, and Quincy. Funded through proceeds from special license plates, the program helps provide reading and reference materials, access to technology, and other library services for residents. The homes provide long-term care for veterans and their spouses.
Supported services include books, magazines, computer access, interlibrary loans, and delivery of materials to residents who cannot visit a library. Library staff and volunteers also help residents use iPads, email, video calls, and Wi-Fi. Library activities offer opportunities for discussion and intellectual stimulation.
