    Funder: Illumina

    Due Dates: October 20, 2026 (Applications open) | January 20, 2027, 11:59 PM PST (Submission deadline) | March 1, 2027 (Winner announcement)

Funding Amounts: In-kind award of Illumina 5-Base DNA Prep kits and core consumables for up to 500 samples

Summary: Supports innovative genetic disease research integrating genetic variation and DNA methylation analysis from the same sample.

Key Information: Proposals must use the Illumina 5-base solution and include a 400-word abstract.

    Description

Illumina’s grant contest supports innovative genetic disease studies that combine genomic and epigenomic analysis using the Illumina 5-base solution. By investigating genetic variation and DNA methylation from the same sample, projects should expand understanding of disease mechanisms, regulatory variation, complex genomic findings, or methylation-associated biology.

The contest welcomes discovery, translational research, and method-development projects. Research directions include rare or unresolved genetic disorders, neurodevelopmental and inherited disease, complex disease, and other genetic disease areas. Studies may investigate structural variation, repeat expansions, imprinting, mosaicism, difficult-to-resolve genomic regions, or integrated analysis methods. Alongside supporting research, the contest aims to increase researchers’ visibility through Illumina-sponsored or approved activities.
