Description
Illumina’s Agricultural Greater Good Initiative supports basic agrigenomics research on agriculturally important crops and livestock. Working with the agricultural community, the program aims to make the global food supply more sustainable and nutritious. It focuses on research that can increase crop yields and improve livestock welfare and productivity, with the broader goal of reducing hunger, malnutrition, and poverty, particularly in the developing world.
The grants have been awarded annually since 2011. Recipients receive donations of Illumina products to support their projects. Priority goes to research that increases the sustainability, productivity, and nutritional density of the world’s food supply.
