Description
The IMD Multimodal Planning Program, administered by the North Carolina Department of Transportation's Integrated Mobility Division and Transportation Planning Division, is an annual matching grant supporting the development of comprehensive bicycle, pedestrian, and multimodal transportation plans. Since 2004, the program has enabled local governments, counties, and (recently) universities across North Carolina to create or update plans that improve connectivity, safety, and mobility for all roadway users. The program funds a range of planning efforts, including stand-alone bicycle or pedestrian plans, multimodal network plans (integrating transit), plan updates, and project acceleration studies for smaller communities.
