Description
The Myositis Association (TMA) supports new or existing research projects focused on immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), including anti-HMGCR, anti-SRP, and other subtypes. Projects may investigate causes, disease processes, therapies, treatments, or disease-related challenges. Related idiopathic inflammatory myopathies may be studied alongside IMNM, but IMNM must remain the central focus.
Research may address preservation of muscle function, reversal or minimization of myofiber necrosis, mobility challenges, pain, fatigue, flares, pulmonary function, dysphagia, and other impairments. Proposals must explain their potential to produce new treatments, improve treatment options, or enhance quality of life for people living with IMNM. Priority goes to interdisciplinary, collaborative projects, including partnerships with patients and care partners.
