Description
This program provides discretionary grants to eligible Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) facing emergency facility needs due to federally connected student populations. Funds are meant to address urgent health and safety hazards in public school facilities, including repairs, renovations, alterations, or, in limited cases, complete facility replacement when more cost-effective. Accessibility improvements under the ADA may be included as part of a larger project. The program is highly competitive and targets LEAs with limited local revenue capacity due to large areas of federally owned, non-taxable land.
