The Socio-Legal Studies Association’s Impact Grants support impact activities that would not otherwise receive institutional support. The scheme helps members translate socio-legal research into benefits for audiences, communities, organisations and individuals. It also helps the SLSA understand impactful research outcomes and make the case for socio-legal studies to research funders and policymakers.
Supported work includes public engagement events, policy briefs and reports, podcasts and other media, follow-on activities, and developing relationships with non-academic partners. The scheme uses the REF definition of impact, encompassing changes or benefits to policy, practice, understanding and other activities, as well as reducing harm, risk or cost. Impact may occur locally, nationally or internationally, and may include benefits to students, teaching or other higher education activities.
