Description
The Foundation for SMFM, the philanthropic arm of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, funds studies addressing disparities in preterm labor, preterm birth, and birth outcomes among historically underserved communities. The award recognizes the intersecting effects of social determinants of health, systemic racism, and access to reproductive healthcare on preterm birth risks and outcomes.
The program supports both the enhancement of existing research involving these communities and new investigations and investigators. Its focus is on promising interventions that could eliminate disparities in birth outcomes.
