    Description

Implementation Grants support Vermont communities in carrying out projects that address local housing, economic development, public facility, public service, and accessibility needs. The Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development administers the grants through the Vermont Community Development Program (VCDP), using U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. Supported activities include helping businesses create or retain jobs, creating or rehabilitating housing, building infrastructure, and creating or assisting childcare and senior centers.

Funding is competitive and combines financial and technical assistance to help communities respond to local needs. Across the CDBG program, 70 percent of funds must primarily benefit people with low and moderate incomes. VCDP may also assist communities addressing slums and blight or urgent needs when it determines that federal qualifications are met.
