Description
Established in 2015, the Improving Community Outcomes for Maternal and Child Health (ICO4MCH) Program funds local health departments to implement comprehensive, population-level maternal and child health initiatives in selected North Carolina communities. Its three aims are to improve birth outcomes, reduce infant mortality, and improve health among children from birth through age five. Projects implement selected evidence-based strategies through a multifactorial approach.
The competitive program is administered by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Public Health, Women, Infant and Community Wellness Section, Infant and Community Health Branch, in collaboration with the Division of Child and Family Well-Being. The 2026 notice provides for three-year grants.
