Description
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Office of Highway Safety and Justice Programs administers this program for law enforcement agencies acquiring and operating in-car video camera systems. Agencies may apply annually for cameras, supporting items, and yearly maintenance or storage costs associated with the systems.
Established under a provision of South Carolina’s 2021–2022 Appropriation Act, the program is overseen by the South Carolina Public Safety Coordinating Council. The council distributes funds through a fair and equitable process that considers applicants’ DUI enforcement activity and gives priority to agencies that emphasize DUI enforcement.
