Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity offers independent residencies for artists and collectives who need uninterrupted time and traditional rehearsal or dance studios to start or advance performance-based projects. The program welcomes dancers, choreographers, theatre-makers, opera artists, and interdisciplinary collaborators. Supported work includes choreography and research, playwriting, dramaturgy and development, and hybrid or genre-defying projects.
Artists design their own creative process, with no structured programming or mentorship. Private studios are assigned according to project needs and available facilities. Residencies normally last one or two weeks; longer stays may be considered case by case, subject to availability. Accommodation, meals, library access, and campus facilities support time dedicated to exploration, experimentation, and creating new work in Banff’s mountain setting.
