Description
The Indian Health Grant is administered by the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC). Authorized by Minnesota Statute 145A.14, it supports organizations furnishing culturally informed clinical health services to American Indian people who reside off reservations. The program funds outpatient or ambulatory care that diagnoses or treats illness or injury, prevents illness, or helps people maintain their health.
Supported services include preventive, medical, dental, and mental health care, including cultural or traditional practices intended to heal or maintain health. Care may be delivered through stationary or mobile clinics. Clinics may offer one or more supported services rather than the full range. Preference is given to Tribal Nations and nonprofit organizations created for and specifically focused on serving American Indians.
