Description
The Indian Health Grant is administered by the Minnesota Department of Health through its Office of Rural Health and Primary Care (ORHPC). Established under Minnesota Statute 145A.14, it provides assistance for culturally informed preventive, medical, dental, and mental health care for American Indian people who reside off reservations. Its purpose is to support services that diagnose or treat illness or injury and maintain health.
The program supports outpatient or ambulatory care delivered through stationary or mobile clinics. Services may incorporate cultural or traditional practices intended to heal or maintain health alongside clinical care. Clinics may offer one or more eligible service types without providing the full range, but must not be devoted solely to urgent or emergency care.
