Indiana Humanities’ Action Grants help tax-exempt organizations develop and deliver meaningful public humanities programs for people in Indiana. Supported formats include workshops, presentations, reading-and-discussion programs, exhibitions, podcasts, and film documentaries. The program aims to spark curiosity, connect people, and explore the human experience through work grounded in sound scholarship and designed for public engagement.
Eligible subject areas include literature, language, history, philosophy, archaeology, comparative religion, law, ethics, arts history and criticism, and social sciences using humanistic content or methods. Programs should help participants learn new information, consider different perspectives, and share ideas. The National Endowment for the Humanities provides funding. A dedicated Indiana Newspaper in Education Foundation award supports at least one media literacy project each year.
