Description
This collaborative opportunity from SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR supports research networks that affirm First Nations and Métis knowledge systems, ontology, epistemology and methodology. Networks are encouraged to take a wholistic approach across the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health and wellness, responding to priorities identified by communities.
Stage 1 supported relationship-building, shared research visions and early network governance. Stage 2 builds on that development to fund research and research training grounded in Indigenous leadership, self-determination and community guidance. Priorities include respectful data governance and stewardship, culturally grounded mentorship, participation by Elders and Knowledge Keepers, education and career pathways, and culturally accessible research outcomes that benefit communities.
