Description
The New Jersey State Council on the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship program supports New Jersey-based artists who actively practice and share their work with the public, professionally or otherwise. Mid Atlantic Arts administers applications, review, notification, payments, and final reporting on the Council’s behalf. Awards help artists advance their practices through activities such as purchasing supplies, attending workshops, renting studio space, or freeing time for artistic work.
Fellowships recognize the highest artistic quality through anonymous, competitive peer review; they are not need- or project-based. Independent panels evaluate the submitted work rather than applicants’ biographies. The published 2027 rules cover seven disciplines spanning performing, literary, and visual arts. The program rotates thirteen artistic categories over two years, and future categories are subject to change.
