Description
The South Carolina Arts Commission’s Individual Artist Fellowships recognize practicing artists for their body of work, achievements, and commitment to a discipline. Awards are competitive and based on artistic merit, not on a proposed use for the funds. The recognition may also help fellows access other resources and employment opportunities.
Eligible disciplines rotate by year and have included writing, performance, media arts, folklife and traditional arts, visual art, craft, interdisciplinary work, and music. Beginning in FY27, fellows may choose to have one work recognized in the State Art Collection’s digital archive; participation is optional and does not affect fellowship status.
