Description
The Individual Artists Fellowship program, administered by the California Arts Council (CAC), provides direct, unrestricted funding to individual artists and culture bearers across California. The program is delivered regionally through eight Administering Organizations (AOs), each responsible for a geographic cluster of counties. Fellowships recognize and support artists at three career stages—Emerging, Established, and Legacy—across all artistic disciplines and traditions.
The program aims to uplift artistic excellence, foster community impact, and promote equity by ensuring access for underrepresented and historically marginalized artists. In addition to financial support, fellows benefit from professional development, networking, and opportunities for public recognition through exhibitions, performances, and convenings.
